I am a Linux and automation enthusiast and would like to share my experience and knowledge with other people who are interested in the same thing.

I started with Linux in 2004. It was my first operating system (Fedora 2). I must say that until then I didn't like computers, I didn't understand them and I never thought that I would work with them one day. And it happened. When I was looking for a new job at the time, I was thinking about what field had a future and I realized that, among other things, it was computers and that I could perhaps change my attitude towards them. It wasn't easy at the beginning, but over time, when I started to find out what possibilities they offer, my interest in them, and especially in Linux, grew. However, I wanted to learn much more than is sufficient for average users. I was trying new and new commands and kept writing them down in notes so that I would have them at hand when needed, without having to search for anything extensively on the internet or in the manual pages. As the information increased, I needed to categorize it for clarity, in short, to have a certain system in it. But soon the notes in the file were no longer enough for me, I wanted to have them available online. At the same time, it occurred to me that I could actually share them with others, so around 2006 this website started to take shape. At first, it operated from my home web server, and only about three years later, I registered a domain and arranged hosting. The original domain was called linuxvbashi.cz, which was replaced by prompt.cz in 2020.

I dedicate almost all of my free time to the website. I add new information, update the existing one, and I try to present everything in an understandable way, including the use of practical examples. I don't use any cookies, pop-ups, or ads. So, if you like my website and want to support it, you can contribute to its operation via the "DONATE" button at the bottom of this page.

In addition to various Linux distributions, such as RedHat, CentOS, Fedora, SUSE, Debian or Ubuntu, I also have experience with Unix systems (AIX, HP-UX, Solaris), databases (MySQL, Oracle), automation programs (Ansible, Puppet , Red Hat Satellite), DevOps tools (Containers, Kubernetes, OpenShift, Git) and partly also with programming in Python. I enjoy both creative work and solving complex problems. In any case, I always need to see at least a good result behind my work. In my opinion, the future is primarily in automation, and I intend to continue in this direction.
